RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE THE CREATION OF THE DEI RESOURCE COORDINATOR II POSITION AND THE ABOLISHMENT OF THE DEI RESOURCE COORDINATOR POSITION FOR THE CENTER FOR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT.

WHEREAS, the Center for Workforce Development established the position of DEI Resource Coordinator Position #3489 in the 2022 budget; and
WHEREAS, since the creation of said position, there is a need to expand the services provided through this role, which requires holding either a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach or Certified Recovery Peer Advocate certification that will assist individuals with disabilities, and mental health and substance use disorders; and
WHEREAS, the current position does not require these certifications, and the Center for Workforce Development Director recommends creating a DEI Resource Coordinator II position to provide these additional services; and
WHEREAS, the position is federally funded through the Workforce Innovations Opportunities Act (WIOA), New York Systems Change and Inclusive Opportunities Network (NYSCION), except approximately $3,000 of the salary and benefits which is pending approval from federal funding.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the County of Sullivan legislature hereby authorizes the creation of one (1) DEI Resource Coordinator II position in the Teamster salary schedule, Grade XII effective April 10, 2024 and hereby abolished the DEI Resource Coordinator position upon vacancy.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, should the federal funding for this position cease, the position would be abolished.
