RESOLUTION NO. INTRODUCED BY GEORGE E. CONKLIN III CHAIRMAN OF THE MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET COMMITTEE TO LEVY RETURNED, UNPAID SCHOOL TAXES
WHEREAS, the County Treasurer of Sullivan County has filed with the Clerk of the County Legislature a list of 2022/2023 returned school taxes for the various school districts in the several towns of the County to be relevied on the 2023 tax rolls;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the returned, unpaid school taxes for the several school districts for the towns of the County as shown on the list thereof filed with the Clerk of the County Legislature by the County Treasurer be and the same are hereby levied against the properties, persons and corporations liable for the payment thereof on the 2023 tax rolls of the County, the same when collected to be paid to the County Treasurer; and in the event that there are insufficient funds in the treasury of the County to refund and pay the amount of such unpaid taxes to the several school districts of the County, the County Treasurer be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to borrow as much thereof as may be necessary to make such refunds and payments and pledge the due faith and credit of the County therefore as provided by the Local Finance Law of the State of New York.
