RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY ROBERT A. DOHERTY, CHAIRMAN OF THE LEGISLATURE AND NICHOLAS SALOMONE, CHAIRMAN OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE TO AMEND RESOLUTION NO. 449-22
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 449-22 extended the 90 day temporary positions for 180 days which is not correct,
WHEREAS, the Legislature authorized double time for Correction Officers working overtime between September 1, 2022 and October 31, 2022 per Resolution No. 381-22.
WHEREAS, the authorization of double time has significantly reduced the need to mandate overtime for Corrections Officers, and
WHEREAS, the double time program has reduced the number of call-outs, and
WHEREAS, there is a desire to continue the double time program November 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022 to allow for the hiring of new Correction Officers anticipated to occur in the months of November and December.
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 449-22 should have indicated that it is the desire of the Legislature to create three (3) new Temporary positions in the Sheriff Department for 90 days, limited only by those position classifications currently existing within the Office of the Sullivan County Sheriff, to include but not be limited to Deputy Sheriff, Correction Officer, Detective or Clerical/Support staff for an hourly amount not to exceed $50/per hour.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes double time for those Correction Officers working overtime November 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes double time for those Correction Officers working overtime November 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes the creation of three (3), 90-day Temporary positions within the Office of the Sullivan County Sheriff to include but not be limited to Deputy Sheriff, Correction Officer, Detective or Clerical/Support staff.
