WHEREAS, property located in the Town of Mamakating designated on the Sullivan County Real Property Tax Map as 15.-1-31.2 being +/-12.91 acres and located at NYS Route 209 is owned by the County of Sullivan by virtue of an Article 11 foreclosure for 2017 taxes; and
WHEREAS, the parcel is adjacent to the D&H Canal Linear Park and hiking trail owned by Sullivan County and the Sullivan County Parks, Recreation and Beautification Department has requested that the County retain the same for public use; and
WHEREAS, the Real Property Advisory Board has reviewed the request of the Sullivan County Parks Department and recommends that it is in the best interest of the County to retain ownership of this parcel to help preserve the natural beauty of the Linear Park and to provide for future park development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the County of Sullivan will retain ownership of the parcel known as Town of Mamakating tax map #15.-1-31.2 and the Chairman of the Sullivan County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute any and all necessary documents to confirm that it is the County’s intent to use the parcel for public use.
