RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE PLANNING, REAL PROPERTY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF CERTAIN PARCEL OF REAL PROPERTY IN HARRIS, NEW YORK.
Legislators Doherty, Brooks and Conklin offer the following:
WHEREAS: Sullivan County has obtained title to a certain parcel of real property situate and located in the Town of Thompson through a proceeding under Article 11 of the Real Property Tax Law; and
WHEREAS: That parcel is identified on the tax map of the Town of Thompson as Section 1 Block 1 Lot 58.2 and is located at 1234-1240 Old Route 17, Harris, New York commonly referred to as the “Skaters World” faciliyt; and
WHEREAS: The County of Sullivan desires to return that parcel of real property to taxable status a viable commercial activity; and
WHEREAS: Said parcel of Real Property was included in the Tax Sale Auction in 2020 ; and
WHEREAS: The bid obtained for said property was significantly lower than it’s actual market value; and
WHEREAS: The Bid received at the auction, of $160,000 was rejected and other private purchasers were sought; and
WHEREAS: Benton Brothers, Incorporated has offered to purchase said parcel for $350,000 and agreed to forthwith refurbish the property and return it to a viable and active commercial entity in the Town of Thompson; Now therefor be it
RESOLVED: That the County Manager or the Chairman of the Sullivan County Legislature are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Benton Bros, Inc to sell the parcel of real property known as 1234-1240 Old Route 17, Harris in the Town of Thompson, County of Sullivan and State of New York for Three Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($350,000.00); and it is further
RESOLVED: That the County Manager is hereby authorized to undertake whatever actions are reasonable and necessary in order to complete the sale of this property such that it will return to taxable status; and it is further
RESOLVED: That this resolution shall take effect immediately,
And move its adoption.
