RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE SULLIVAN COUNTY LEGISLATURE TO INCLUDE LINE NUMBERS AND THE FULL NAME OF ANY DEPARTMENT, ENTITY OR ORGANIZATION PRIOR TO USING AN ACRONYM OR ABBREVIATED TERM TO REFER TO SAME IN ALL LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTIONS
WHEREAS, the County Legislature desires to make its resolutions reasonably clear and understandable to the public;
WHEREAS, the County Legislature has determined that the use of acronyms or abbreviated terms in its resolutions can cause confusion, particularly when the same or similar acronyms or abbreviated terms are used to describe more than one department, entity or organization; and
WHEREAS, the County Legislature has determined that the use of line numbering in its resolutions and the full name of a department, entity or organization prior to using an acronym or abbreviated term to refer to same will assist in making its resolutions reasonably clear and understandable to the public.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that effective July 24, 2025, all resolutions of the County Legislature shall include line numbers and the full name of any department, entity or organization prior to using an acronym or abbreviated term to refer to same in any resolution.
