RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY LUIS A. ALVAREZ, DISTRICT 6 LEGISLATOR TO ACCEPT THE REDUCED PAYMENT OF REAL PROPERTY TAX ARREARS FROM THE VILLAGE OF LIBERTY FOR A VILLAGE-OWNED PARCEL
WHEREAS, the parcel known as Village of Liberty tax map #121.-3-7.2 was previously foreclosed upon and now owned by the Village of Liberty (“Village-owned parcel”) which has substantial delinquent County taxes; and
WHEREAS, this Village-owned parcel has four years of delinquent taxes which total $30,182.01 through October 31, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Village has maintained title and ownership of the Subject Parcel since August 31, 2022 and has determined that they intend to keep the parcel and designate it for public use, and
WHEREAS, the Real Property Advisory Board has reviewed this matter and advised that the County accepting the base amount of taxes as reflected on the County/Town tax bills issued in January each year is in the best interest of the County of Sullivan and follows the agreements previously made with other municipalities in similar situations; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Treasurer’s Office is hereby authorized to accept the base amount of County/Town taxes (which include relevied school taxes) in the sum of $23,304.13 as full and final payment of said delinquent taxes for the parcel known as Village of Liberty tax map #121.-3-7.2.
