RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY NADIA RAJSZ, CHAIR OF THE LEGISLATURE, LUIS ALVAREZ, VICE CHAIR OF THE LEGISLATURE, MATT MCPHILLIPS, MAJORITY LEADER, CATHERINE SCOTT, DISTRICT 5 LEGISLATOR, AND BRIAN MCPHILLIPS, DISTRICT 3 LEGISLATOR TO APPOINT TWO MEMBERS TO THE CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION TO FILL TWO VACANCIES
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 1.05 of the Charter of the County of Sullivan, the County Legislature has the authority to appoint qualified electors of Sullivan County to the Charter Review Commission in order to review the implementation of the Charter and propose amendments as required, and
WHEREAS, on January 22, 2026, the Sullivan County Legislature adopted Resolution No. 19-26 appointing nine (9) members to the Charter Review Commission, and
WHEREAS, currently there are two vacancies on the Charter Review Commission due to a resignation and an automatic dismissal for non-attendance.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED it is the desire of the Sullivan County Legislature to appoint the following two individuals to the Charter Review Commission:
Mark McLewin to fill Bill Lothrop’s slot (resignation)
Bill Chellis to fill Kaylee Roebuck’s slot (dismissal)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that these two appointments shall take effect Thursday, August 6, 2026.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that if any further resignations or dismissals occur, the Legislature is authorized to make additional appointments to fill the vacancies as necessary.
