To extend the authorization of double time for Deputy Sheriff’s who work at the Jail. The County Manager has evaluated the overtime hours and sick leave (call-outs) and has come to the determination that it has significantly reduced the need to mandate staff and the sick leave and recommends the extension of this program through December 31, 2022. New Correction Officers are slated to start in November and will be trained which will assist with the need for overtime going forward.

WHEREAS, the Legislature authorized double time for Correction Officers working overtime between September 1, 2022 and October 31, 2022 per Resolution No. 381-22.
WHEREAS, the authorization of double time has significantly reduced the need to mandate overtime for Corrections Officers, and
WHEREAS, the double time program has reduced the number of call-outs, and
WHEREAS, there is a desire to continue the double time program November 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022 to allow for the hiring of new Correction Officers anticipated to occur in the months of November and December.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Legislature to extend the 90-day Temporary Deputy Sheriff positions for 180 days.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes double time for those Correction Officers working overtime November 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes double time for those Correction Officers working overtime November 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022 and hereby authorizes the 180-day extension of the Temporary Deputy Sheriff positions.
