RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE A MODIFICATION TO THE COUNTY LONGEVITY PROGRAM FOR EMPLOYEES WORKING AT THE CARE CENTER AT SUNSET LAKE.
WHEREAS, the County of Sullivan operates the Care Center at Sunset Lake ("ACC"), a skilled nursing facility; and
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County Legislature has commenced the closure of the ACC; and
WHEREAS, the planned closure is likely to occur over an approximately three (3) month period,
WHEREAS, the County currently has longevity payment programs for management confidential and unions representing employees at the ACC; and
WHEREAS, it is likely the ACC will be closed prior to the end of 2026 meaning those employees that don't remain employed with the County would be ineligible for a longevity payment in January 2027 under the current collective bargaining agreements and the non-union handbook, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the County Legislature to ensure those employees receive a longevity payment as if they had worked through the end of 2026.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Sullivan County Legislature, having commenced with the closure of the ACC, hereby directs the County Manager to ensure that those employees who currently work at the ACC and don't voluntarily resign county employment prior to the end of 2026 shall receive a longevity payment as if they had worked through the end of 2026; and
