RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO APPOINT MEMBERS OF THE SULLIVAN COUNTY AGRICULTURAL AND FARMLAND PROTECTION BOARD
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 117-23, the term of one member of the Sullivan County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board (Board), John Gorzynksi, an active farmer, will expire as of December 31, 2026; and
WHEREAS, John Gorzynksi, submitted a request to resign from the Sullivan County Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board once a new active farmer is appointed to the committee; and
WHEREAS, the County of Sullivan posted a vacancy announcement on May 6, 2026, for the following positions: one active farmer as required by Article 25AA Section 302 of the Agriculture and Markets Law; and
WHEREAS, Tim Tonjes, Ian Miner and Jennifer Lowrey, responded to the vacancy announcement, each requesting to serve a term on the Board, and no other persons responded to the vacancy announcement; and
WHEREAS, Tim Tonjes is a qualified individual to respond to the positions of active farmer; and
WHEREAS, the Board recommends that Tim Tonjes be appointed for a four-year term to serve as an active farmer and to finish the term of John Gorzynski.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby makes the following appointments to the Board, to commence and terminate on the dates listed below:
Tim Tonjes September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2030
