I’d like to remind the legislators that this penalty fee, which I have heard the County Manager describe in the past as a slap on the hand, is because a frail elderly resident was bodyslammed at our county nursing home and subsequently was administered a sedative medication which belonged to another patient. This is a matter of public record, although it was ignored by the media. I think that it would be appropriate for somebody sitting at the podium to apologize to that resident. The penalty fine is a public reprimand for the mismanagement of the facility and is the third penalty fine that the ACC’s manager, which is Sullivan County, has received since Infinitecare became a consultant, adding up to a total of $46,840 in fines.
