RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE PLANNING AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE PREPARATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF A NATIONAL FISH AND WILDLIFE FOUNDATION GRANT TO COMPLETE A MONGAUP WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) administers funding for watershed studies and restoration activities to improve water quality, wildlife habitat, flood resiliency and recreation in the Delaware River Watershed; and
WHEREAS, the Mongaup Watershed is a sub-watershed to the Delaware River; and
WHEREAS, NFWF's goals to improve water quality, wildlife habitat, flood resiliency and outdoor nature-based recreation are closely aligned with those of Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, Sullivan County in conjunction with Friends of the Upper Delaware River (FUDR), Trout Unlimited (TU), and the Land Use Law Center at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University (Pace) have identified the need for planning and drainage improvements in the Mongaup Watershed; and
WHEREAS, such activities are eligible for funding under the NFWF program, with a maximum award of $400,000 subject to a 50% project match; and
WHEREAS, currently funded projects may qualify to serve as the required match; and
