RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY CATHERINE SCOTT, DISTRICT 5 LEGISLATOR IN SUPPORT OF EVERGREEN MEADOW SERVICES' APPLICATION TO THE NYSERDA BUILDING CLEANER COMMUNITIES COMPETITION
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County Legislature is deeply committed to advancing both community health and sustainable economic development across our region; and

WHEREAS, EverGreen Meadow Services (EGMS), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving youth mental health outcomes, is proposing the development of EverGreen Meadow Academy - a nature-based, therapeutic learning campus for middle school girls at risk of self-harm and suicide - to be located in rural Sullivan County; and

WHEREAS, this project will be designed and constructed in accordance with high-performance, energy-efficient, and clean building standards, aligning with New York State's climate and sustainability goals; and

WHEREAS, EverGreen Meadow Services' application to the NYSERDA Building Cleaner Communities Competition seeks funding to support clean construction practices, renewable energy systems, and healthy indoor environments that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and operating costs over time; and

WHEREAS, the proposed campus will also create lasting economic and social benefits for Sullivan County by generating construction jobs and more than 100 permanent, well-paying positions with strong benefits, while establishing a model for environmentally responsible and community-centered development; and
