Designating Petitions were filed at the Board of Elections March 30th - April 3rd, during which time our office received:
> Approximately 270 petitions
> 19 objections to petitions
> 7 specifications to objections
Over 500 candidates were designated this year, and the list of petitions and candidates can be found on our website at: https://www.sullivanny.gov/Departments/Elections.
On the ballot for the June 24, 2025 Primary Election:
Democratic Primary:
Bethel: Council Member
Fallsburg: Member of County Committee, District 3
Republican Primary:
Countywide: Sheriff
Fallsburg: Member of County Committee, District 2
Rockland: Justice
Sample ballots will be posted on our webpage the week of May 12th.
Important Dates, Deadlines & Information:
* The "Even Year Law" is still on direct appeal to the Court of Appeals.
* The first day to sign an Independent petition was April 15th, and must be filed with the Board of Elections between May 20th-27th (Our office will be closed on Monday, May 26th in observance of Memorial Day).
* June 14th is the last day for the Board of Elections to receive a Voter Registration by mail or in person (our office will be open from 9am until 5pm) for the Primary Election. This is also the last day for the BOE to receive an Absentee/Early Vote by Mail application by mail or portal.
> Any Voter may request a postage paid Early Vote by Mail Ballot (no reason required), by paper application or via the online portal: https://elections.ny.gov/request-ballot.
* June 9th is the last day for the BOE to receive a change of address from a Voter.
* Early Voting for the June Primary runs from Saturday, June 14th until Sunday, June 22nd at the Sullivan County Government Center in Monticello and Public Health in Liberty. The hours are posted on our website at: https://sullivanny.us/Departments/Elections/EarlyVoting
