RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH ARCHTOP FIBER FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO POWER INFRASTRUCTURE OF COUNTY OWNWED AND LEASED COMMUNICATION TOWERS

WHEREAS, Sullivan County ("County") is currently working with Archtop Fiber (ATF) for the purpose of deploying a countywide network of broadband infrastructure ("Project"); and

WHEREAS, the Project is being funded by a Municipal Infrastructure (MIP) grant and is anticipated to be completed by December 31, 2026; and

WHEREAS, the Sullivan County Legislature has identified access to broadband as a priority issue to better serve the residents of Sullivan County, and wishes to see this project completed on time; and

WHEREAS, the Project includes a wireless component which leverages the County's existing network of communication towers, and it has been determined that substantial power upgrades will be required in order to support equipment to be deployed as part of the Project; and

WHEREAS, the cost of the upgrades is estimated to be $300,000, which was not included as part of the overall Project budget that is being funded by the MIP grant; and

WHEREAS, the County has agreed to pay ATF for expenses associated with the power upgrades, and ATF will reimburse the County at such time as revenue becomes available from an active customer base.
