INTRODUCED BY LUIS A. ALVAREZ, CHAIR OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMITTEE TO SUBMIT APPLICATION, ACCEPT FUNDING FROM AND ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE GOVERNOR'S TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE FOR POLICE TRAFFIC SAFETY SERVICES
WHEREAS, Motor vehicle traffic crashes are the leading cause of injury related death for New York State residents from (2012-2014, NYSDOH), and motor vehicle traffic injuries are the 3rd leading cause of injury related death and hospitalizations in Sullivan County (2012-2014, NYSDOH); and
WHEREAS, the goal of the Program is to support statewide efforts to reduce all types of crashes including those related to speed, impairment, motorcycles, occupant protection, bicyclists, pedestrians and commercial vehicles; and
WHEREAS, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office recommends that the County continue to participate in the Program and desires to apply for funding in the amount of $4,960 for the period of October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes the County Manager, Chairman of the County Legislature, and / or their authorized representative (as required by the funding source) to execute any and all necessary documents to submit the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee Police Traffic Services application for funding; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes the County Manager, and / or Chairman of the County Legislature (as required by the funding source) to accept the award, and enter into an award agreement or contract to administer the funding secured, in such form as the C...
