WHEREAS, New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services ("NYSOILS") issued a Request for Proposals for available funding for New York State Counties to develop new, innovative programs or practices to improve the quality of representation provided to parents accused of child maltreatment who cannot afford to retain counsel, under the Third Family Defense (Child Welfare) Quality Improvement and Caseload Reduction grant; and
WHEREAS, the Administrator of Assigned Counsel for the County of Sullivan in consultation with the providers of mandated legal services, submitted a response to the Request for Proposals on October 26, 2023 seeking $500,000.00 over three years to be split between the two providers of mandated legal services, Sullivan Legal Aid Panel, Inc. and Sullivan County Conflict Legal Aid, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the County of Sullivan has been advised that the County's proposal was recommended as one of the top ranked proposals receive by the NYSOILS; and
WHEREAS, in order to receive the funding, the County must accept the award and enter into an agreement with NYSOILS to administer the funding; and
