RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY FOR ACTIVE SHOOTER RESPONSE TRAINING
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County Sherriff’s Office believes that it is necessary and prudent to train its Officers in the techniques and strategies needed in the event they must respond to an active shooter situation; and
WHEREAS, in order to properly train its Officers, the Sheriff’s Office wants to acquire certain tools and equipment that will allow its Officers to practice rapid entry to locked doors and other entry points that can be critical when responding to an active shooter situation; and
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County Legislature (“Legislature”) believes it is in the best interest of the citizens of Sullivan County that the Sheriff’s Office and its Officers have access to all tools and equipment it needs to train its Officers in the event that they must respond to an active shooter situation.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Legislature does hereby approve an expenditure in an amount not to exceed $40,000.00 to acquire tools and equipment the Sheriff’s Office believes it needs to properly train its Officers in response to an active shooter situation; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Legislature hereby authorizes the County Manager to execute any documents necessary to acquire the tools and equipment requested by the Sheriff’s Office, in such form as approved by the County Attorney’s Office.
