RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE PLANNING AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES COMMITTEE TO MODIFY A CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES WITH ALTA PLANNING + DESIGN INC. FOR WORK ON THE O&W RAIL TRAIL
WHEREAS, completing the development of the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail (the “Trail”) has been identified as a high priority for Sullivan County (the “County”), and the County has established a dedicated fund balance to advance this priority; and
WHEREAS, the County currently owns a portion of the trail in Summitville, Town of Mamakating, New York, that crosses Summitville Road; and
WHEREAS, currently there is a switchback on the western side of the road allowing walkable access to the Trail, but no switchback on the eastern side of the road; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with services provided as per RFP, #R-22-05, the County wishes to provide continuous walkable access throughout this section of trail; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of design and engineering services for the Summitville switchback is $72,000; and
WHEREAS, funding for this project was budgeted and exists in the County’s dedicated O&W Rail Trail Fund Balance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Manager be and is hereby authorized to execute a modification agreement with Alta Planning and Design Inc. in an amount not to exceed $72,000 for engineering and design services on the O&W Rail Trail for a switchback on the section of trail crossing Summitville Road in the Town of Mamakating, in such form as the County Attorney shall approve.
