RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY MANAGER TO SIGN A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR (NYSDOL) FOR SPACE AT THE SULLIVAN COUNTY CAREER CENTER LOCATED AT 50 NORTH STREET, MONTICELLO, NEW YORK

 

WHEREAS, the NYSDOL leases space at 50 North Street, Monticello, New York; and

WHEREAS, the Center for Workforce Development rents space from the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) to form the Sullivan County Career Center that is required under the Federal Workforce Opportunities and Opportunity Act (WIOA); and

WHEREAS,  the lease agreement authorized under Resolution #256-22 terminated June 30, 2025 and was amended by resolution #383-25 authorizing continued payment in holdover tenancy; and

WHEREAS, the NYSDOL now seeks retroactive rent from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 in the amount of $93,250.44; and

WHEREAS, the County has paid $48,783 during the holdover period and the difference now sought by the landlord is $44,467.44.

WHEREAS,  this agreement is to be extended an additional year through, June 30, 2027 to lock in the cost of the lease.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Holdover Lease Agreement with the NYSDOL, and such lease shall be in the form approved by the County Attorney.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that payment in the amount of $44,467.44 is hereby authorized under the hold over lease agreement.
