RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT THE FY2023 TECHNICAL RESCUE & URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE (USAR) GRANT PROGRAM AWARD FROM THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES (DHSES)
WHEREAS, the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services provides funds to support efforts of emergency management / homeland security; and
WHEREAS, the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services has made funding available to support the improvement of Technical Rescue and Urban Search and Rescue capabilities and help to develop new response capabilities as it relates to high-risk incident missions; and
WHEREAS, the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services is administering the FY2023 Technical Rescue & Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Grant Program, a competitive, reimbursable grant program, wherein the funding is to be applied toward enhancing Technical and Urban Search and Rescue Teams that provide services involving structural collapse rescue, structural collapse search, trench rescue, confined space rescue, and rope rescue which help New Yorkers respond to and recover from acts of terrorism and / or other catastrophic events; and
