RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY CHAIR OF THE SULLIVAN COUNTY LEGISLATURE, NADIA RAJSZ TO AUTHORIZE RETENTION PAYMENT OF QUALIFIED COUNTY EMPLOYEES AT THE ADULT CARE CENTER
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County Manager’s Office announced the closure of the Adult Care Center (“ACC”) on August 19, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County Legislature (“Legislature”) adopted Resolutions No. 302-26, 303-26, and 304-26 on August 20, 2026, authorizing ACC employee layoffs, longevity payment, and a retention incentive for ACC employees who remained active during the closure process; and
WHEREAS, those employees qualified to receive 10% or 20% of their current annual base salary, depending on their position held at the facility for remaining in their positions to maintain the standard of care for the ACC residents; and
WHEREAS, paragraphs 5 and 6 expressly state the eligibility requirements and the consequence of voluntary resignation; and
WHEREAS, approximately twenty-three (23) employees were notified on September 11, 2026, of their layoffs, that would be effective on September 25; and
WHEREAS, on September 16, 2026, the Honorable Kevin R. Bryant, J.S.C. signed an order temporarily restraining the County from proceeding with the closure plan; and
WHEREAS, the County Attorney’s Office expects Judge Bryant’s decision after October 19, 2026; and
