We are in the process of producing ballots for the June 23rd Primary Election.  As of Friday, May 1st, 731 eligible Primary Voters have requested a mail ballot (436 Democrats and 295 Republicans).  For all current, eligible requests, the ballot shall be transmitted to Voters no later than Friday, May 8th.  

 

Designating Petitions were filed at the Board of Elections between March 30th and April 6th, during which time our office received:

Ø                     91 petitions

Ø                     3 objections to petitions

Ø                     2 specifications to objections

 

93 candidates were designated this year, and the list of petitions and candidates can be found on our website at: <https://www.sullivanny.gov/Departments/Elections>.

 

The Ballot Certification for the 2026 Primary Election (both County and State) are also posted on our website.

 

On the ballot for the June 23, 2026 Primary Election:

 

Democratic Primary:

Statewide: Comptroller

 

Republican Primary:

Countywide: Representative in Congress, 19th District

Countywide: State Senate, 51st District 

Cochecton: Supervisor and Superintendent of Highways

Forestburgh: Supervisor

 

Sample ballots will be posted on our webpage on or before the week of May 18th.

 

Important Dates, Deadlines & Information:

v                     All Changes of Enrollment received after the February 14, 2026 deadline, shall be effective on June 30th (after the June 2026 Primary).

v                     The first day to collect signatures on an Independent Petition was April 14th.

v                     The filing period for Independent Nominating Petitions is May 19th until May 26th (our office will be closed on Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day).

v                     Saturday, June 13th is the last day for the Board of Elections to receive a Voter Registration by mail or in person (our office will be open from 9am until 5pm) for the Primary Election.  This is also the last day for the BOE to receive an Absentee/Early Vote by Mail application by mail or portal.

Ø                     Any Voter may request a postage paid Early Vote by Mail Ballot (no reason required), by paper application or via the online portal: <https://elections.ny.gov/request-ballot>.

v                     June 8th is the last day for the BOE to receive a change of address from a Voter.

v                     Early Voting for the June Primary runs from Saturday, June 13th until Sunday, June 21st at the Sullivan County Government Center in Monticello and Public Health in Liberty. The hours are posted on our website at:  <https://sullivanny.gov/Departments/Elections/EarlyVoting> 

As always, there is no Early Voting the day before the election (Monday, June 22nd).

v                     Primary Election is Tuesday, June 23rd.  Poll Sites will be open from 6am until 9pm in Sullivan County.

v                     Mail Check Cards (the yellow post cards with Voter information) were mailed to Voters in Sullivan County at the end of April.  If you did not receive a yellow post card, please contact the BOE at (845)807-0400, or check your voter status online at: voterlookup.elections.ny.gov <https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov/>.  

v                     Our Summer Office hours will be 8:00AM until 4:00PM, Monday through Friday, beginning Tuesday, May 26th until Friday, September 4th (excluding mandatory filing dates).
