RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE A LETTER OF INTENT WITH THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH OF SAINT PETER-SAINT ANNE OF THE LAKE-SAINT JOSEPH AND SAINT JOSEPH FOR THE POTENTIAL PURCHASE OF REAL PROPERTY

 

WHEREAS, the County Manager and the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Peter-Saint Anne of the Lake-Saint Joseph and Saint Joseph have negotiated a letter of intent for the purchase and sale of a former school building situated on a larger tax parcel known as Section 111, Block 5, Lot 1 in Sullivan County, NY; and

 

WHEREAS, the County desires to acquire the property for purposes of siting a transitional housing facility; and

 

WHEREAS, the letter of intent allows for a due diligence period allowing time for the satisfaction of various contingencies.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes the County Manager to sign a letter of intent for the purchase of real property, which is a certain piece of 482 Broadway, Monticello, New York consisting of a former school building situated on a larger tax parcel known as Section 111, Block 5, Lot 1 in Sullivan County, NY, in an amount of eighty-five thousand dollars ($85,000) to be in such form as the County Attorney shall approve; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Legislature authorizes payment of ten percent (10%) of the purchase price to be placed in escrow during the due diligence period.
