RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE COUNTY MANAGER TO APPLY AND ACCEPT GRANT AWARD THROUGH THE GOVERNOR’S TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office would like to pursue an FY 2025 Police Traffic Services (PTS) grant through the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee; and
WHERAS, the goal of the Program is to support statewide efforts to reduce all types of crashes including those related to speed, impairment, motorcycles, occupant protection, bicyclists, pedestrians and commercial vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the funding would be utilized for the purchase of manpower, travel related to training and a traffic safety program; and
WHEREAS, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office recommends that the County continue to participate in the Program and desires to apply for funding up to $6,000 for the contract period of October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes the County Manager, Chairman of the County Legislature, and / or their authorized representative (as required by the funding source) to execute any and all necessary documents to submit the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee Police Traffic Services application for funding; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes the County Manager, and / or Chairman of the County Legislature (as required by the funding source) to accept the award, and enter into an award agreement or contract to administer the funding secured, in such form as the County Attorney shall approve; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that should the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee Police Traffic Safety Services funding be terminated, the County shall not be obligated to continue any action undertaken by the use of this funding.
