RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY PUBLIC SAFETY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SULLIVAN COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE AND THE NEW YORK STATE UNIFIED COURT SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office is responsible for the prosecution of criminal matters and relies upon the Sullivan County Courthouse for the conduct of its prosecutorial functions; and
WHEREAS, the New York State Unified Court System and the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office have identified necessary courtroom technology upgrades, including software and hardware improvements, to enhance the ability of the District Attorney's Office to present digital evidence in criminal proceedings; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the courthouse courtroom technology upgrades is $203,000.00, with the installation of the upgraded technology to be performed by the New York State Unified Court System's Information Technology Department; and
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office has agreed to provide a total of $60,000.00 toward the cost of the upgrades, consisting of $30,000.00 in Aid to Prosecution funding and $30,000.00 in Discovery funding; and
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County District Attorney has recommended that the County enter into said agreement with the New York State Unified Court System for the purpose of providing the District Attorney's Office's contribution toward the courthouse courtroom technology upgrades; and
WHEREAS, funding for the District Attorney's Office's contribution is available in the applicable Aid to Prosecution and Discovery accounts of the Sullivan County Budget; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Manager is hereby authorized to execute an Agreement with the New York State Unified Court System for the Sullivan County Courthouse courtroom technology upgrades, in an amount not to exceed $60,000.00, consisting of $30,000.00 in Aid to Prosecution funding and $30,000.00 in Discovery funding, said Agreement to be in a form approved by the County Attorney
