WHEREAS, the Division of Community Resources has operated a Community Assistance Center (CAC) since 2020 for the purposes of providing emergency food, information and referrals, and
WHEREAS, the CAC continues to partner with the Hudson Valley Food Bank as a food distribution site for county food pantries, and
WHEREAS, the reduction and /or elimination of federal funding has negatively impacted local pantries and agencies who provide food to those in need, and
WHEREAS, the local agencies who provide home delivery of healthy food have seen their services severely impacted, and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the CAC to purchase bulk food staples to disburse to these local agencies who provide home delivery of healthy meals, and
WHEREAS, the CAC will utilize county bids for food items and bulk distribution companies as needed, and
WHEREAS, the CAC is requesting an increase in funding for 2026 to $40,000 to provide this service.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Division of Community Resources’ Community Assistance Center will structure a system for the distribution of food staples to local agencies who provide home delivered healthy food within Sullivan County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Sullivan County Legislature approves the increase in funding for the Community Assistance Center to $40,000 for calendar year 2026.
