RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE PLANNING AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE THE MODIFICATION OF A CONTRACT WITH METROPOLITAN URBAN DESIGN WORKSHOP (MUDW)
WHEREAS, Sullivan County (“County”) awarded a contract to Metropolitan Urban Design Workshop (MUDW) to develop a comprehensive Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan (“Plan”) in an amount not to exceed $200,000, as per a proposal submitted in response to solicitation R-24-34; and
WHEREAS, the Plan, which focuses on connecting our town and village centers for residents through alternative transport by identifying safe and convenient connections that reduce vehicle trips to common destinations for work, school, shopping and essential services within the County’s population centers, is nearing completion; and
WHEREAS, the proposal submitted by MUDW included an additional optional scope for implementation consisting of preliminary design development of five (5) specific capital projects throughout the County, including existing conditions analysis, concept designs, and cost estimates; and
WHEREAS, the cost of this additional scope is $50,000, or $10,000 per project, and this funding was included in the 2026 Operating Budget for the Department of Planning; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Sullivan County Legislature to move forward with the additional scope as the development of the preliminary design packages will provide the basis for the County and its municipalities to seek outside funding for implementation of the action items identified in the Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sullivan County Legislature authorizes the County Manager to execute a modification to an agreement with Metropolitan Urban Design Workshop to develop five (5) specific capital projects throughout the County, in such form as the County Attorney shall approve, in an amount not to exceed $50,000.
