RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE PUBLIC SAFETY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE THE PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE DORMITORY AUTHORITY OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK (DASNY) FOR STATE AND MUNICIPAL FACILITIES PROGRAM (SAM) FUNDING TO SUPPORT THE SULLIVAN COUNTY BUREAU OF FIRE SPECIAL OPERATIONS TEAMS
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire coordinates countywide fire service initiatives, specialized emergency response operations, and mutual aid resources to protect the lives, property, and environment of the residents and visitors of Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Fire supports and coordinates Special Operations Teams, including Technical Rescue and Hazardous Materials, the Sullivan County Dive Team, and other specialized emergency response capabilities that require modern equipment to safely and effectively respond to complex emergencies; and
WHEREAS, the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), through the State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM), provides funding opportunities for capital projects, facilities, and equipment that enhance public safety and strengthen emergency response capabilities; and
WHEREAS, the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire wishes to apply for SAM funding in the amount of $150,000.00 to support the acquisition of specialized equipment necessary to strengthen the operational readiness, safety and effectiveness of the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire’s Special Operations Teams; and
WHEREAS, Sullivan County is not required to provide any local cash match.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes the County Manager, Chairman of the County Legislature, and/or their authorized representative (as required by the funding source) to execute any and all necessary documents to submit an application for SAM funding; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes the County Manager and/or Chairman of the County Legislature (as required by the funding source) to accept the award, and enter into an award agreement or contract to administer the funding secured, in such form as the County Attorney shall approve; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that should the SAM funding be terminated, the County shall not be obligated to continue any action undertaken by the use of this funding.
