RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE NEW SERVICE ORDERS (SO) FOR FACILITY FIBER COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERNET SERVICES THROUGH FIRSTLIGHT FIBER
WHEREAS, resolution 413-20, adopted on November 5, 2020, authorizing new service orders, co-expired in October 2024 at the end of our original Master Services Agreement (MSA) with Firstlight Fiber; and
WHEREAS, per resolutions 520-24 & 589-24, the County currently has in place a new 48-month renewal Master Service Agreement (MSA) with FirstLight Fiber for private business fiber communication that was put in place in October 2024; and
WHEREAS, additional fiber service and internet connections may be required during the course of this MSA; (1) for new location connections; (2) to accommodate an increase in internet bandwidth and (3) increase core connection communication speeds between its network locations; and
WHEREAS, FirstLight Fiber service initiation only requires “Service Orders” (not contracts) for new and updated connections for their fiber and internet services; and
WHEREAS, the County of Sullivan wishes to continue to utilize the services of FirstLight Fiber to facilitate, manage and support its business fiber technology communications requirements county wide to serve the needs of its constituents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the current 48-month agreement with FirstLight Fiber can be expanded with FirstLight Fiber “Service Orders,” as necessary; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Information Technology Services Division Commissioner/Chief Information Officer is hereby authorized to enter into and submit “Service Orders” with FirstLight Fiber as the County’s communications needs and growth require in an amount not to exceed $400,000/year total (the existing MSA and any new connection SO’s) for a period of 48-months through October 2028, mirroring and co-terming with our current 48-month MSA with FirstLight Fiber.
