RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY LUIS ALVAREZ, CHAIR OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMITTEE TO APPLY, ACCEPT AND ENTER INTO AN AWARD AGREEMENT OR CONTRACT WITH BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE FOR FY26 COMPREHENSIVE OPIOID, STIMULANT AND SUBSTANCE USE, SITE BASED PROGRAM (COSSUP)
WHEREAS, the United States Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has announced a funding opportunity for fiscal years 2026-2029 for Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use, Site-Based Program (COSSUP)
WHEREAS, the District Attorney will prepare and submit for consideration an application to the BJA for grant funding in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00 for the purpose of continuing its’ Deflection and Diversion Program, and
WHEREAS, if awarded, the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Deflection and Diversion Program will have a funding period from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2029,
WHEREAS, the County of Sullivan will have no matching fund obligation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sullivan County Legislature hereby authorizes the County Manager, Chairman of the County Legislature, and / or their authorized representative (as required by the funding source) to execute any and all necessary documents to submit the BJA FY26 COSSUP ap...
